Human Design Authority: How to Make Decisions

Authority is the most practical part of a Human Design chart. It's the inner mechanism you're built to make decisions with — and using it well changes the texture of your life within weeks. Most people are using the wrong authority for their design and wondering why their choices keep going sideways.
Why authority matters more than type
Type tells you how you engage with the world. Authority tells you how to choose. The first is interesting — the second is actionable.
There are seven authorities. You'll have one. Most people aren't using theirs because nobody taught them it existed.
Sacral authority
For Generators and Manifesting Generators with no defined Solar Plexus. It's a body yes/no — wordless, immediate, easy to override with the head.
Use it by having someone ask you a yes/no question and noticing the first sound or sensation. "Mm-hm" or "uh-uh." Don't think.
Emotional authority
For anyone with a defined Solar Plexus, regardless of type. You feel a wave — high, low, neutral — over hours or days. The truth lives at the bottom of the wave, not the peak.
No decisions in the moment. Sleep on it. Talk it through. The right choice gets calmer the longer you sit with it.
Splenic authority
For some Projectors and Manifestors. A quiet first knowing — instinctive, intuitive, said only once. If you ignore it, the spleen doesn't repeat itself.
Practice catching the first whisper. Most people who think they don't have a strong intuition just trained themselves to override the splenic voice for years.
Ego authority
Rare. For people whose Heart center is connected to the Throat. The decision-making question is: "Do I really want this?" Not should. Want.
It feels selfish, and it's supposed to. Ego authorities make commitments based on willpower they actually have, not the willpower they wish they had.
Self-Projected authority
For Projectors with a defined G center. You decide by speaking out loud — not asking advice, but using your own voice as the instrument of clarity.
Find people who let you ramble. The truth shows up in your sentences, not in your head.
Mental and Lunar
Mental authority is for Projectors with no defined motor or G — you decide through conversation with trusted people. Lunar is for Reflectors — wait a full lunar cycle (28 days) for big decisions.
